Really, Winnipeg Free Press?

Here’s a story running in today’s Free Press:

It’s about a teacher that ran off with a student.

The most interesting part of the story is this:

Because of the nature of the allegation against him, and now that he is in police custody, the accused cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim.

Why is it interesting? Because yesterday the Freep(and countless other media outlets)  splashed the names and photos of both the victim and accused all over the paper.

So much for protecting the identity of the victim.

  1. LOL.

That’s too funny. The WFP has gone downhill in the last few years. First they have been known to delete and close commentary for certain topics that may have 50+ posts. Now they have published the names of both parties at least twice. Certainly weird.

I also find it interesting that they deleted comments to the story about Jack Layton and the massage parlour after Police were investigating who leaked the information out to the press.
